Thanksgiving 2025

We went up to my parents' house for Thanksgiving for the first time since 2022. This is the group we ate with:

Thanksgiving 2024

Had a marvelous dinner at Mike and Sofia's house this year! Thank you to our hosts!

I neglected to take a group photo, but R's sister's family was in attendance. Alice kind of stole the show this year with her adorableness (she's also one of the few people I know who seems to like to have her photo taken anymore, so we got along well).

Thanksgiving 2023

It was a different Thanksgiving for us. V had some surgery done on her ankle the day before. It was a relatively minor operation, but it was enough to keep us home for the holiday. To be honest, I think we were all okay with that, just being so tired from how hectic life has been lately, but of course we missed seeing our parents and sibling's families too.

It was a good day, just the four of us. It reminded me of our first Thanksgiving after V was born and, yes, also the COVID year.

We made our own buns and an eggnog pie, but the rest of our meal was take-and-bake from Colossal Cafe. It was tasty and definitely easier than spending the whole day cooking.

Thanksgiving 2021

An unexpected COVID exposure brought us a little farther west than we originally planned for Thanksgiving this year, but we still had some great meals with some welcoming hosts.

The next day we took an icy walk around the headwaters of the Mississippi:

Then we stopped in Bemidji to visit some cousins. I took a walk around the town and shot some film, but unfortunately, I don't have much to share from the rest of our visit, except for one of these guys hitting the Nintendo Switch:

We also spent a night at Grandma Linda's house. I did get a photo of her with the kids, but again, that is on film and won't be developed for a while!

Thanksgiving 2020

Like many other events this year, Thanksgiving was low-key. Low-key is also low stress, so I rather enjoyed it. But it was a bummer not to see extended family, especially for the kids who would have really loved some time with grandparents and cousins.

The weather worked out well for a morning Turkey Trot:

Our meal was amazing thanks to the Colossal Cafe's take-and-bake options. I only made the glazed the carrots and cranberry sauce.

We finished the day with a viewing of E.T.. Veronica was reluctant to watch, but she agreed to check out the first 10 minutes, and it successfully pulled her in for the rest.
