Animal entourage

Veronica received this pink elephant for Christmas. It matches her outfit!

LA style

I had Monday off so we drove down to LA. Veronica was a really good sport about the whole thing (not to mention the cutest baby ever).

First we went to a furniture store.

Then we checked out Venice Beach.

Our last stop was the Santa Monica pier, just in time to see the sun set.

What a beautiful sunset it was!

Veronica's portrayal of a young Jesus in this year's living nativity has been receiving many accolades.

Here she is behind the scenes, before getting into wardrobe, with fellow cast members, mom and dad:

After one 20-minute take with mom and dad (photos pending), she was ready for more, so we left her on the scene with our friend Kathy who took over as Mary, pictured below:

Ten minutes into the next scene, the emotion of the performance overtook Veronica, requiring mom to replace her with a body double (i.e. a doll):

Tribute to the midwives

Veronica was born at home with the help of some fabulous midwives.

Last night I finally managed to get a photo of Anna, a truly compassionate expert in the birthing business who was with us every step of the way:

(You can bet some more photos with that Santa hat are coming.)

And then there's Laurel, who motivated momma during the pushing portion of labor and was the one who actually caught little Vera. This shot of the two of them was taken when Vera was a week old:

(A bit of irrelevant trivia is that Laurel is married to the lead singer of this band.)

Finally, there's Alice, who I unfortunately don't have a photo of yet. Alice is an inspiring woman with an incredible wealth of knowledge. We were so lucky to have her as a part of the team who helped bring our daughter into this world.
