Snow in our backyard
... I use the term "backyard" loosely.
Sorry for the slow down in photos. I was feeling a little stressed out last weekend and took a break from my normal level of coverage. All I have is a few shots from a walk to Knapp's Castle, but those didn't turn out that great because the sun had already set and I didn't have a tripod with me. Anyway, here's one more of mum with her friend Rebecca:

Happy birthday, Grandma!
We made Grandma F a card for her birthday this year. I don't want to reuse any of the photos from it, so here's an outtake:
We love you, Grandma. Have a wonderful day! Read more...

New furniture
In a move that was somehow both impulsive and five years in the making, we purchased a new couch and chairs for our living room.
Here are a few shots of them in use:

A boy and his horse
There are a couple of extra peas staying in the pod this week. Grandma M has returned and she brought cousin E with her. You may remember cousin E's last visit from almost a year ago.
I've been working during the days, but last night we all visited the carousel together.
Here's the little guy riding off into the sunset:
This shot took me about 10 tries to get right... Good thing merry-go-rounds go around:
This one looks better in black and white:
Here we are riding in a horse-drawn carriage:
And here are a couple of spectators you may recognize:

Cambria
We drove 2.5 hours north along the coast to a sleepy little town called Cambria last weekend and spent a night there.
Veronica went swimming for the first time in the resort's heated pool. It turns out she's a regular Baby Beluga.
There was a gorgeous sunset:
This isn't us, but the sentiment is there:
It was Veronica's first night away from home. She slept very well. Look at that strong neck:
I love this rugged stretch of coast. It is near Montaña de Oro state park, a place we camped a few years ago.
This is also not us (but maybe will be after we retire):
We stopped at a beach along Morro Bay on the way home:
Morro Rock is quite a sight:
These two are quite a sight as well:
We also took a tour of the impressive Hearst Castle. Unfortunately I forgot my camera battery in the car, so I was only able to take a few so-so photos with my iPhone. Just to give you an idea about the place, here's the indoor swimming pool:
Momma Pea sure knows how to plan a fun, memorable getaway. Kudos to her! Read more...
