Alaska trip, part 2: welcome to Wrangell
Touchdown on the island of Wrangell, population: 2,000.
Downtown Wrangell:
David and Paula are R's aunt and uncle, who were kind enough to put us up for
the week:
They have a dog named Sal who loves to have her belly rubbed. She got so excited to see us... every time she saw us.
Paul and David have a very practical house...
... with an AMAZING view from their deck (seriously, take a second and look at this one):
Looking back up at the house:
The kids met David and Paula's sheep:
They also have chickens:
There are some interesting cultural/sociological things going on in Wrangell, but I'm not running that kind of blog. I prefer to let the photos do the talking.
Tribal house:
Some images of the harbor are below. Having no access to the mainland by road, the sea is obviously an important part of the way of life up there.
I have a ton of photos of old boats that I am showing great restraint by not posting too much of.
You'll see more of the island/town as these posts go on.
