What the guys did over MEA weekend

We did LESS than the ladies. But we liked it that way!

We grabbed some food from Mickey's Dining Car:

We moved Omri's beanbag chair to the basement and watched three movies:

We painted the front door of the house and played a 4–6-hour game of Axis & Allies.

We made a tasty chuck roast (and served it in taco form the second night):

We played some mini golf...

... and vintage arcade games at Can Can Wonderland with Omri's good friend:

It was a nice weekend.

What the ladies did over MEA weekend

Rats in a Cage tour

We were out for Taco Tuesday the night of the Smashing Pumpkins show in St. Paul last week, and the resale ticket prices were dropping quick, so I was able to pick one up for only $13! R was sweet enough to drop me off and pick me up afterwards. The band played the Grand Casino Arena. My seat wasn't great (I definitely prefer to see them at a smaller venue, like last time at the Varsity Theater), but it wasn't on the upper deck either and well worth $13. I'm so glad I didn't miss out on this show!

Veronica sings at Rally Day

Veronica brought some youthful energy to the musical performances at our church on Sunday. She had very little practice for these performances and came down with a head cold two days before, but she still did a stellar job!

Phoebe Bridgers concert

Veronica and I were lucky enough to attend Phoebe Bridgers' sold-out show at the Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul. No phones were allowed in the venue, so we were only able to take a few photos on the walk there. This was fun. Phoebe's new album is easily one of the best of the year!

Camp Du Nord 2026, part 2: iPhone shots

I didn't bring my big camera out on the water, just in case I happened to go in, so this is where having a camera on my phone is sure convenient.

Omri and I went on a kayak adventure to Blueberry Island:

It's not really pictured here, but we swam around the whole island!

And we climbed on the rocks:

On a separate adventure, Veronica and I hiked the goat trail to Pine Point and kayaked back. The water was so calm that evening!

While the kids were with their age groups, R and I paddled across the north arm of Burntside AND took a hike to the scenic Chant Lake:

Then there was our lunch cook-out at a campsite across the lake. A couple of counselors helped guide us.

We made pita pizzas made over a little gas stove:

Empty nest preview

Our home was pretty quiet when the kids were away at camp. We sure missed them! On the positive side, R and I got to spend some extra time together and there were not nearly as many dishes to be done.
