Winter escape 2017: Day 9

I didn't take any pictures from day 9 because we pretty much just got off the boat and flew home.

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank R for planning the trip. That part of the process doesn't interest me at all. I'm lucky to be able to simply show up and be whisked away on an adventure.

It was as relaxing as a vacation can be with two crazy kids. They sure make it fun.

That was a lot of photos to process! I'm sure I missed some gems too. Think I'll take a few mornings off from editing/blogging before we return to our regular life coverage...

Winter escape 2017: Day 8

On day 8 we stopped in The Bahamas at Disney's Castaway Cay.

R ran a 5K first thing in the morning. It's not pictured because the rest of us were drawn to this amazing beach:

The girls at the BBQ lunch:

Omri took my cookie and asked me to hold his ice cream cone (photo by R).

Time to try snorkling:

Winter escape 2017: Day 7

A full day at sea.

Here's what our room looked like on the ship... V tells me the bunk beds were a highlight of the trip.

Here's what a sunrise from the top deck looks like:

Thank you, Omri boy, for ensuring we were up early enough to see the sunrise.

V spent some time at the Oceaneer's Club. She and I also watched Moana on the big screen. Omri had a nap. R and I each had some time to soak in the adult pool on our own.

We met the Frozen princesses:

Here's a look at more of the ship.

One of three pools:

Every time I grabbed a new ice cream cone, Omri took it from me.

Live jazz during dinner at Tiana's Place:

Three drinks!

After dinner each night there was an entertaining theater show (photos weren't allowed). This particular night we went to a pirate party on the top deck following the show. Arrrrrrggggh....

V went off dancing in the crowd but I couldn't get a clear shot of her.

Pirate Mickey zip-lined in:

Impressive fireworks for a boat!

Winter escape 2017: Day 6

Sorry, Omri, we're not flying out, but we are leaving the island this day.

The morning started like the others.

A little play time:

Then we walked around...

... and had one last look at the resort...

... and saw the peacock again...

... and had a (somewhat) relaxing moment...

... and then we got on a Disney cruise!

The kick-off party on the top deck of the Disney Wonder:

Hey, one of all four of us:

I was impressed by the dinners and great service on board. Our first meal was at the Animator's Palate, where the walls came to life.

Dessert time:

There will be more ice cream to be had--in fact, all we could eat ice cream for three days--the definition of luxury travel.

Winter escape 2017: Day 5

Day 5 was probably my favorite day of the trip. We found a good balance, spending most of the day at the resort, alternating between the pools...

... and the beach.

Sure beats lunch alone at your desk in an office building surrounded by below-freezing weather:

In the late afternoon we ventured back into Old San Juan.

Veronica counted something like 17 stray cats we saw on the streets:

Our submission for best place to eat in Puerto Rico: St. Germain Bistro.

And now if you'll excuse a slightly pretentious detour into some more artistic street photography...

It was a good day.
