Christmas continues

We headed up to my parents' place on Christmas afternoon. I thought it would be fun to get a group shot in the new addition on their house, which is still under construction. Hopefully we can get a similar shot in the finished room next year (we're also expecting a new niece or nephew to make an appearance).

Back at our place we had some visitors who were returning from their trip to Argentina. The kids enjoyed the time with their cousins.

And by now, I'm pretty sure we've all had enough Christmas. Time to think about 2020... Happy New Year, everyone!

Christmas morning 2019

We had an exciting Christmas morning! So exciting that I forgot to turn on the microphone to my camera right away. Thus, the first part of my video is silent. I added the sound effect of a projector whirring so that it would remind me of watching the old Super 8 films my dad used to shoot on Christmas mornings in the 1980s.

As usual, it was difficult to decide when to stop shooting video and switch to still photographs because I wanted both. Maybe we need to do a two camera set-up next year?

Quilly finds the whiskey and ends up hurt

We found our Elf on the Shelf, Sir Messy Quills Esquire, aka "Quilly," in some funny situations this season, like roasting a marshmallow over a candle or out on a date with Elsa from Frozen, but this one particularly stands out in memory, possibly because it is one of the few I thought to record with my camera. He found my whiskey! At one point in the day, with no ill-intent from me (because I too have been known take an occasional nip from the bottle), I accidentally closed the cupboard door on him. The next morning, he appeared in a Magnatile wheelchair with TWO BROKEN LEGS. I felt so bad for the little dude. But he recovered quickly after that and doesn't seem to hold anything against me.
