Winter escape 2017: Day 4

Day 4 was an ambitious one. It started with a trip to El Yunque National Forest. It's a rain forest and we were actually hoping for some rain, but it didn't happen.

We hiked 3/4 mile each way to a...

... waterfall!

This shot taken by R puts it in better perspective:

This doesn't look terribly safe in retrospect:

All of us, minus Omri, made it into the frigid water.

I didn't get a picture of R in the water because I was too busy wrangling Omri on the rocks.

We stopped at a taco shop on the way down the mountain for a snack and a drink...

... right from a coconut:

Check out the view!

Omri met some aliens:

Veronica tried on some new clothes:

Then we stopped by Luquillo Beach:

V (and I) had a great time playing in the waves:

Omri wasn't as thrilled about the waves but still had fun in the sand.

It was a beautiful beach, more of a locals' spot.

I'm glad we had the chance to see some of Puerto Rico outside of our resort.

I'm pretty sure we had ice cream every day of this trip.

Winter escape 2017: Day 3

Day 3 had a slow start.

And then a bummer when we were rear-ended in our rental car while stopped at a cross-walk (not pictured).

After almost three hours of dealing with the police and car rental company, we finally made it into Old San Juan.

The buildings are very colorful there.

So are the streets.

And some of the buildings are really worn down. This one had trees growing inside of it:

This appears to be a step down from the Hilton:

This city is a photographer's dream.

It's also an ice cream lover's dream.

The kids loved the pigeons (the rest of us tried to avoid them).

We walked a bunch on day 3.

And checked out an old fort named Castillo de San Cristóbal.

The kids were getting pretty worn out by this time.

Cooling off in the dungeon:

Love that smile:

Old San Juan was beautiful. We'll return one more time before the end of the trip.

Winter escape 2017: Day 2

Okay, so there's actually not that much to show from our first full day in Puerto Rico. We spent the whole day at the resort, unwinding from regular life.

The resort had this great private beach and the weather was in the 80s. That's a good combination.

Here's the view from our room on the 16th floor. That's an old fort down below:

These guys were wandering all around the premises. At one point we saw one drinking from the swimming pool and nodding at us as if enjoyed the refreshment (not pictured).

There was also an incredible peacock on the garden. Stay tuned and you may see it spread its tail...
