Veronica's 8th birthday party
Veronica had a good turnout for her birthday party! We're missing one attendee from this photo (and Omri):
The party had a loose Harry Potter theme. Here are some wizard hats:
And some broom sticks:
And the classic carrot pumpkins, which don't really fit the theme but are really easy to make:
Moaning Myrtle made an appearance on the bathroom mirror, along with a foreboding message:
For this year's craft, we made magic wands (12 kids using glue guns and paint is tricky, so photo coverage is limited):
Here's a look at Veronica and Omri's results:
Opening gifts is always a highlight of the party:
I give you our annual candle shot:
Those are hanging candles with LED tea lights, another decoration, in the foreground:

I believe they are doing the Macarena here:

That 70s party
Not to be confused with Veronica's birthday party that happened the same day, we attended my aunt and uncle's 70s themed party Saturday night.

Second roll of film
I already mentioned this on Instagram, but I want to have a record of it here too. My second roll of film didn't turn out at all. The print you see in the iPhone photo below is the only one I got back, and that was not exactly the intended result. I had carefully considered each shot I took on that roll over the course of three months. The back of the camera had opened halfway through the roll and apparently ruined it all.
If you recall, the back of the camera opened up during my first roll too. However, that time, the first half of the roll still developed okay, even though the photography itself was mostly garbage. I learned a lot from that half roll and applied it to my second, which makes this loss even more painful.
The first exposure on it would have been a group shot of my sister-in-law's family, having just arrived in Minnesota from Argentina. It was the first time two of them had ever set foot in the United States. Another lesson learned: take back-up photos with the iPhone!
The good news is I switched to another old camera (pictured below) found in another in-law's basement. I already shot a roll of film on it and 23 exposures were returned to me! I plan to show some of the results next week.

V turns 8
Her party is happening on Saturday, so Veronica's actual birthday was a lower key affair with dinner at Pizza Ranch and some gifts afterwards. We were happy to have Grandma Linda in town for the occasion.
Omri looks a little less excited about his sister opening gifts. Poor guy. He handled it pretty well overall.

The light shines on this girl
Happy 8th birthday to Veronica! Just had this one more photo from the shack to post and it seems to fit. She is a ray of light!

A night at the shack
We had a fun weekend up north, including roughly 24 hours at my dad's hunting shack.
I can barely see that camouflaged boy:
The kids got a lot of good outdoor time.
Let the treasure hunt begin!
