Christmas morning 2020

Hope everybody had a nice Christmas!

Our Christmas morning video is consistently my favorite recording of the year, although I have to miss some great photo opportunities in order to get it. I have a version of the video that is twice as long as this, but I think the shorter cut will do for readers of the blog:

Gingerbread peeps

Receiving and eating Gingerbread people from Great Aunt Gloria has become a new holiday tradition!

Glow Holiday Festival

R had the foresight to buy tickets to a drive-thru holiday light show happening at the fairgrounds.

The kids were able to unbuckle their seatbelts and stick their heads out the moon roof to get a look.

Honestly, photos of Christmas lights are not that interesting...

...I was more interested in capturing the kids looking at Christmas lights:

At the end of the route we picked up some hot chocolates (and mini donuts):

It was a fun outing for a family who has been feeling a little cooped up lately.

Great skating and cocoa bombs

Turtle Lake froze over nicely, making for some great skating conditions!

Veronica is doing really well on skates this year.

Omri gave it a fair shot too but preferred to run around on boots.

Hot chocolate tastes best after an afternoon out in the cold, especially when it originates from one of these gorgeous chocolate bombs R found for us. Here's a s'mores flavored one:

This one was cookies 'n' cream flavored (and had a worm in it):

All you do is pour hot milk over them in a mug and they "explode":

The kids were fans:

As a family with perfectionism tendencies, it was important for us to approach this project with expectations that our results would not be perfect. They certainly weren't! We had fun.
